Wish I wasn’t here Positive: The location is good especially for Sneaton Castle . Lidl and petrol station are also within walking Negative: I should have read the reviews after booking as I’d had this booked 14 months in advance . The main issue is the bathroom . The water was leaking from the bathroom through the ceiling in the entrance hall and the tracking to downstairs toilet ceiling , there are electrics very close to where the water is coming through . We couldn’t use the shower ( 4 adults attending a wedding in the warm weather we’ve just had ) and the bathroom sink was constantly slow to drain so you couldn’t get washed properly either upstairs. The upstairs landing carpet was soaked and stained so this has been a long standing leak . From reading the reviews as well from 2024 it just hasn’t been addressed by the owner. It smelt of damp. The main bedroom floor boards feel like they are giving way and creak like crazy on the right hand side of the bedroom . You heard it all through the property loudly if anyone stepped on them . Cleanliness was not great , the 2ft high hanging rails to hold your clothes were filthy , the carbon monoxide monitor was thick with grime and the windows you struggled to see through . Apparently we’ve been advised since by them that they only do a basic clean between guests as they are no longer in Covid so it’s not a requirement to clean properly and the window are because of a tree so they don’t bother and what did we expect . Also we didn’t appreciate being greeted with a bedroom bin half full of used tissues either ! Gross. We addressed these issues with the owner/management/whoever answers booking.com messages ( who knows who they are ?) to be first be told not to leave a review . Later that evening we were told they had come out after we left and there was nothing wrong , the carpet had dried up although it was soaked when we arrived , and the ceiling wasn’t wet , again dried up although it was dripping through at 10am that morning .

Great family stay property Positive: It's well appointed for a family stay, with plenty of space, parking and downstairs toilet. Good proximity to supermarket with electric car charger Negative: Nothing

We had a nice relaxing break and slept very well Positive: It was very well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. Negative: Cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch. It wouldn’t take much to elevate the ratings with a bit of tlc and attention to detail.

Positive: The location was great for us to get into the town and participate in the goth weekend. Negative: Unfortunately it rained all night last night, so disturbed our sleep as it was noisy on the velux windows.

Positive: Overall great location to get to Whitby by foot. Car parking available which is a real bonus. Nice open plan downstairs location. Negative: Missing basic items like tea towels, hand towels in bathrooms, sufficient toilet roll (had part started toilet roll) some paint work was poor and living room rug would benefit from being cleaned. Single beds are a little creaky.
