Toffee Crackle - Staithes

Beautiful house in a fantastic location, but hot water needs improving Positive: We had a lovely stay at Toffee Crackle. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard, with comfortable beds, modern facilities and everything spotlessly clean. The location in Staithes is absolutely perfect. Communication with the hosts was excellent throughout. They were friendly, helpful and quick to respond, and we really appreciated their flexibility with our checkout time. Negative: Unfortunately, the one significant downside was the hot water supply. Although the property sleeps eight people and has two bathrooms with showers, there simply wasn’t enough hot water for everyone. Only one person could shower at a time, and we then had to wait an hour or two for the water to heat up again. Even with just six of us staying, this was quite restrictive, and everyone felt conscious of having to rush their showers. I appreciate that properties in Staithes may have limitations with their heating systems, but a larger hot water tank or improved system really is needed for a house of this size, particularly when accommodating eight guests. It’s a shame because everything else about the property was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay, but the hot water issue was a significant inconvenience and something I think future guests should be aware of. If this were addressed, it would be an outstanding place to stay.

Positive: The house was lovely, needed a deep clean but it was Up to standard. Lovely location, near to the shops, local pubs and the harbour. Negative: Lack of hot water, if you run a bath no one else can get a bath or shower for a couple of hours. The house could do with a deep clean. The stairs are very steep, I think stair gates should be fitted to the top and bottom of the stairs especially when you know children are staying at the property, luckily we did take one so it wasn’t an issue for us. The location is really nice but if you have mobility issues it isn’t easy getting too and from the car parks, there is no parking near the house.
